HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! ...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! ...

thank ya'll for the posts. it's always an encouragement to hear some feedback. well it's official. he won't let me have the donkeys back. fitness equipment think it's mostly HER input there than his. but again, maybe it's a blessing in disguise...feed & vet bills, etc., as was mentioned.

He & I are done. After speaking to him briefly last night, and she answered the phone, I realized I've been living in a fantasy, hanging on to the past. I can't get on with my life while crying about things I can't change. That's where the serenity prayer really comes in handy.

Billy, myself, my daughter, & her 2 boys are all driving down to billy's mom's for Thanksgiving. my son & his famaily are going to meet us there. I'm anxious to have all my kids together for pictures at one time. It will be wonderful having them all together at one time, for the first time ever since the grandkids were born. hope my nerves will hold up. plus i'm meeting a bunch more of bill's family for the first time. about 80 ppl are going to be there. talk about a bunch of rednecks! lol. it's going to be fun.

i rode mama horse bareback for a while around the farm this afternoon. shakota & jubilee ran around & after us bucking, kicking up their heels & having a grand ol' time while I rode. That's such a neat experience to me. i love being with my horses.

i've been straightening the house & doing laundry all afternoon. i took boomer, my dog, to mom's to stay while we're gone the next couple of days. then next week mom's coming here to stay again for a few days. that's getting a little old, but can't do anything about it.

i'm in a better mood. have taken my medicine like i'm supposed to today & feel better for doing so. i've gotta start being more vigilent with my meds. they're important to my own sanity.

well, billy will be home shortly. i'll go for now. take care & have a grand holiday! gobble gobble! lol.

I know everyone must've thought i'd dropped off the earth. sorry. we moved my pc and it took forever to move the phoneline, then i had trouble trying to change dial up companies. moved from aol to verizon.

life's just been rockin on. ronnie's finally steel doors history. he's marrying a girl in her 30's. (i'll be 47 in march), who's got 10 more acres than me. I have a grave disdain for the man these days.

Billy and I are getting along well. Mom's staying with us for a few days again. they're moving back to TX from Wyoming.

I'm riding more than ever as the weather allows and we've planned two big trailrides for this year. We're really looking forward to it.

well, just wanted to let ya'll know I didn't die or get sick or anything like that. just had service interruption.

Glad to read that everyone's ok in the world.

Look forward to hearing from you!!!!

Experience The Uniqueness Of Japanese Sliding Doors

Experience The Uniqueness Of Japanese Sliding Doors

The Japanese culture has never fail to amaze people across the globe. From high tech gadgets to unique architectural designs, more and more people are going gaga over Japanese products. In the field of interior design, the Japanese culture is quite visible because of the use of Japanese sliding doors.

Also called "fusuma" or "shoji" by the native tongue, Japanese sliding doors are becoming quite popular in most households because they are unique and real space savers. Used to separate individual rooms from the others and from the hallways as well in traditional Japanese homes, today fusuma/shoji are used as doors in a modern house setting.

Aside from being unique in terms of design, the doors appeal to many people because they are designed with exquisite paintings of scenery and nature, authentic kabuki fans, sakura or cherry blossoms, samurai graphics and other geometric designs. But today, to make the doors cater to different age brackets, gender, race, or religion, many designs are industrially printed on plain rice papers. They can even be customized via order if you want to give it as a present or gift to specific person.

If you are looking for the doors for your house, you may want to consider the following:

1. Design. To achieve the uniqueness and authenticity of Japanese culture through sliding doors, make sure that you choose something with a timeless design. The best option for this are those doors that depict the scenery of the ancient Japan. By choosing an authentic design in doors, your room can be easily transformed into a typical Japanese home.

2. Multi-function feature. If you are planning to buy a door, choose those that have double tracks on its slides and those that can be used not only as a room separator but also in other spaces of the house such as kitchen, living room, and patio.

3. Make sure that it is puncture resistant and has a surface that can be easily wiped. In choosing a door, opt for those that cannot be punctured easily to ensure that it will last for a long period time. Also, opt for those that you can easily wiped to save you some time in cleaning it.

4. Double check if it has top and bottom tracks as well as intact doorjambs in the right and left.

5. Choose those that are crafted from lightweight, durable, exquisitely varnished Spruce. This will ensure the authentic look of your doors
Sliding Closet Doors - A Few Tips To Helping You Choose The Right Sliding Closet Door

Sliding Closet Doors - A Few Tips To Helping You Choose The Right Sliding Closet Door

Having a sliding closet door included in a home's design or replacing an existing one can present a number of choices. There are several different kinds of materials that can go into the creation of a sliding door. Beyond the materials, though, there are a few other things to consider.

Before running out to buy a new sliding closet door consider:

* The correct size.

Not all sliding closet door designs are of the same size. Knowing how big they need to be in height and width is very important. If replacing an existing one, a simple measurement will do. Should the door be for new construction, check with the contractor to ensure the right size is chosen. A door that is too big will not fit in the pocket created or likely will not.

* The runner/track type.

Some sliding closet door setups involve runners on both the top and bottom, others do not. Make sure the right kind of system is purchased with the door or that the door is compatible with what is in place.

* Installation difficulty.

If a sliding closet door is being installed as a do-it-yourself China injection molding,laptop batteries job, consider the project carefully before diving in.

Not all sliding closet door designs are alike. There are a few options as far as appearance goes. They include:

* Wood.

Solid wood and pressed wood are perhaps the most common for a sliding closet door. These can be great overall choices as far as durability and appearance are concerned.

* Mirror.

Glass mirrored fronts on sliding closet door designs are not at all Steel Doors uncommon. Just make sure the doors chosen are solid and durable. Flimsy materials likely will not withstand lots of opening and closing.

* Plastic.

Fabricated sliding closet door designs also exist. These tend to be a little more lightweight than many other options. They are also a lot easier to clean. Damage can be harder to cover than it is with wood, however.

* Fabric.

A fabric design can be a very unique idea for a sliding closet door. These creations generally are made after the fact or are specially ordered. It is even possible to create these at home by covering wood, plastic or mirrored doors with a thick fabric or a designed tapestry.

Choosing the right sliding closet door for the configuration can be a little tricky. Just make sure the right materials are selected and that size constraints are considered carefully. A door needs to fit the opening and the pocket created or it simply will not work as intended.
Guide to Installing a New Door

Guide to Installing a New Door

Replacing doors in your home can completely change the look and feel of a room, or make the exterior of your house much more attractive. A new door also often has a better seal which will prevent the heat escaping, and hopefully save you money on heating bills.

There are three main types of door:

- Entry Doors

- Interior doors

- Combination Storm/Screen Doors

In a second we're going to look at replacing an entry (external) door. To replace an interior door many of the steps are the same, just slightly simplified. The locks for example either won't be used, or will be much simpler. Replacing a combination storm/screen door is basically the same as an entry door, or it can be more complicated. You need to check with your manufacturer for any instructions.

Start by removing the old door

In order to do this you need to open the door and use a wedge to take the weight of the door (at the opposite side of the door jamb). When the door has been removed you should then keep it safe so that you can use it as a pattern to cut the new door.

When removing the door, there are two main options.

Many doors are hung using loose-pin hinges, these are where half of the pin attaches to the door and the other half attaches to the door frame. Both of the halves are joined together by using a pin. You can tap the pin out in order to remove the door.

In older homes the pin may of become stuck in, or a different type of hinge has been used. In this situation you could consider unscrewing the hinges instead and then remove the door.

Remove hinge leaves.

You then need to remove the hinges from the door and the frame. You can decide whether you want to reuse the same hinges or use new ones. If you decide to use the same hinges then you can clean them off using sandpaper.

Then install the new hinges to the doorframe. Make sure that you use long enough screws to get a secure fixing.

Cut the new door.

You should use the original door as a guide when cutting your new door where possible. If the door has warped then you should think about whether or not this is a good idea.

Use a fine toothed saw to trim the bottom of the door. You could also consider using a block plane to trim the bottom of a door. The sides can be trimmed using a jack plane.

Prepare new door for hinges.

The first thing you need to do is create the mortises which allow the hinges to fit flush with the surface of the door. You could also use Interior Doors the old door for the pattern to mark the locations of the hinge mortises.

If your door is taller than six feet then you may need to China doors consider using three hinges in order to distribute the weight evenly enough. In this case the third hinge should be fitted in the middle of the other two.

Use wood sealant to coat the raw edges of the door and use wood screws to fix the hinges to the door.

Hanging the new door

Fit your door into the frame and insert the top and bottom pins. If it fits ok then close the door and mark the location of the middle hinge.

If you're still looking for things to do around the house then you may want to consider installing a new lockset. I would leave that until another day if I was you! Go and enjoy yourself for now!
Door Hinges - How To Maintain Them

Door Hinges - How To Maintain Them

Door hinges have a thankless job. For most of their mundane lives, they simply swing back and forth,Interior Doors holding the door securely in its frame. Occasionally, they strain as children swing back and forth on the door handles. Other times, they shudder to a sudden stop as a door is thoughtlessly slammed.

But when door hinges become a bit unhinged from years of use, they can not only cause doors to squeak, stick or rub, but allow heat to escape and cold to enter. Maintaining your door hinges is a simple process, something you can do once or twice a year. And it will keep your hinges working properly for years to come.

Unlike the old days when door hinges were made of iron, brass or steel, today's hinges come in an array of materials and finishes. Thanks to modern manufacturing techniques, most of these finishes are maintenance free. Left alone, they won't tarnish, rust or fail over time.

What do begin to fail are the screws that hold the door hinges on the door and the frame. The stresses and strains of everyday openings begin to loosen the screws. This is particularly true on heavier doors that are either left open a lot or bear lots of traffic.

At least twice a year, you want to go through your entire home, inspecting all the door hinges. If you find an loose screws, simply tighten them with a screwdriver.

If the screws in the door hinges spin in their place and won't tighten into the wood, it means the holes are stripped. When this happens, do the following:

1) Remove the screws on that particular hinge. If China injection molding,laptop batteries you have a three hinge door, you can easily undo a single hinge plate at a time. If you have doors with just two hinges, you'll need to place a wedge under the door to take the weight off the hinge before you loosen it.

2) Once the plate is removed, dip a couple cardboard matches into wood or white glue and put them into the hole. Then tighten the hinge screws and they should hold.

3) If the thought of shoving matches into the holes doesn't work for you, use a golf tee or a sliver of wood instead. Cover these with glue and reinstall the hinge. Don't put the screw in the repaired hole yet. Allow the glue to dry, then cut off any excess wood, and then drill a pilot hole into it. This will keep the wood from cracking, ensuring that the screw won't strip it again.

Squeaks and creaks don't affect the performance of your door hinges but they can get pretty annoying after awhile. The good thing is that the door hinges are simply reminding you that it's time for a couple of squirts of WD-40. Spray it at each joint along the pin so it soaks into the center. This is the source of creaks in your door hinges. If you don't have any WD-40 handy, you can use cooking oil in a pinch, but it won't keep the squeaks away for long.
Automatic Garage Doors

Automatic Garage Doors

Everyone would like a comfortable life. Most would say that to achieve this you need a comfortable home. If you already have a comfortable home you may be looking to improve things to make your life even more comfortable.

I would like to talk about a couple of home improvement products that not only make your life easier but can also add significant value to your home - everyone is a winner.

Today I would like to discuss Garage Doors and what automated garage doors are available on the market.

These really are good - perhaps you have a disability, perhaps you feel vulnerable getting out of your car in the dark winter nights or maybe you are just plain lazy and looking for the easy life!

If any of the above applies to you then an automated garage door could significantly improve your life and add value to your home.

These garage doors come in many different shapes and sizes. You may choose to opt for a roller door - this is a slatted door that is quite attractive in appearance. It rolls up into a casing. These doors are generally quite quiet and provide good insulation for your garage.

The negative point about these doors is that you need the headroom above the opening to fit the box in the first place. If you do not have this then the box will have to sit within the opening - this could leave you with a vastly reduced opening height, which is a huge issue for smaller garages or owners of large vehicles.

There are solutions to this issue - doors are available that rather than rolling into a coil they continue on a track on your ceiling roof - this allows to very little headroom requirement. Generally though these doors can be a lot more expensive than the traditional roller door.

Another quite attractive door is the same as mentioned above but the Pvc Doors slats remain vertical and the door slides to the left or right wall of the garage. Of course here you need the depth of the garage to be available and if you have a side door or windows it may not be a practical solution

Options are available other than the slatted roller door. Sectional doors are similar but they have much larger panels. These can be very attractive but they come with added complications.

Finally the typical up and over doors are also available with an automatic operation. These tend to be the noisiest of doors so bear this in mind if you have a bedroom above and need to use the door when people may be sleeping. Kits can be purchased that allow you to motorise your existing door. These allow for quick and easy automation at low cost.

All the above operate on the same principle. You have a remote control in your car or on your person. As you approach the door you press the remote. The door should be pretty much open by the time you reach your garage. Dive in and press the button again and the door closes.

A few points to be aware of when considering using a garage door of this kind - What will you do in the even of a powercut - or even a breakdown? There are several options available today including manual override systems and battery backups.
The Advantages of Buying UPVC Doors

The Advantages of Buying UPVC Doors

UPVC doors have become all the rage, as a popular alternative to traditional wooden front doors in houses nationwide. Loved for their hard wearing, stylish properties, UPVC has become the material of choice for new home builders and renovation projects, particularly in suburban areas. But why is UPVC considered such a good material for door construction, and indeed why is it so popular given the fact that many people still prefer the more traditional wooden style doors for the front of their homes? What are the advantages of UPVC doors and how do they compare to their traditional wooden counterparts?

One of the main advantages of UPVC doors Wood doors as compared to traditional wooden counterparts is the fact that they pose greater insulation benefits as a result of their construction. UPVC doors are often hollow, and filled with specific insulation materials designed to keep the heat in and the cold out. Traditional wooden doors are less insulated than UPVC models and tend to be constructed of solid wood, which is less energy efficient. In terms of your heating bill and the warmth of your home, you will notice a tangible difference with a UPVC door as compared to a traditional wooden frontage.

UPVC is also a more hard wearing material than wood regardless of the elements, and is normally waterproof which will prevent damp and maintain insulation regardless of the conditions outside. Whereas a normal door will absorb rain water UPVC simple repels the elements to keep you warm and to keep the cold weather conditions outside. Additionally this means that a UPVC door is likely to have a longer life expectancy than a wooden door, leaving you with a less frequent need to replace your exterior door.

A major benefit of UPVC doors is the cost, when compared with traditional wooden doors. Because UPVC is machine molded to fit the style contours fashion requires, there is less manual craftsmanship necessary to produce the desired outcome. What that means in practice is that whilst you can achieve a solid, stylish door as you would with a wooden counterpart, you end up paying a fraction of the price for the privilege whilst achieving the range of benefits brought on by UPVC.

Of course a wooden door can be a more personalized item and can be considered to be more of a luxury. However when it comes to practicalities there really is nothing that compares to a brand new UPVC front door for value for money, insulation and protection from the weather outside.

The advantages of buying UPVC doors are clear to see, although some people still prefer wooden exterior doors for their own individual reasons - be they stylistic, or practical. Whatever your personal preference, it is probably in your best interests to at least consider the advantages UPVC can bring for exterior doors and windows, with a view to potentially realizing the differences between contemporary and traditional door construction for the value of your property and the other practical benefits it can bring.
